Flows and Routeings

Modified on Fri, 27 Dec, 2024 at 12:42 PM

All fars are  created in relation to a particular ‘flow’. A flow is defined as one or more permitted routes between:

• An origin and destination station

• A specified geographic area (a zonal flow) or

• A combination of a specified station and a specified geographic area

Route ‘Any Permitted’

Any Permitted can be defined as the shortest route between the origin and destination stations

indicated on the travel ticket covered by a regular scheduled train service without involving a

double-back.

Specific routes

Specific Route fares restrict passengers to travelling via a specific route between their chosen origin

and destination stations indicated on travel tickets. The route is usually defined by a station (e.g.

Chesterfield) or TOC description
